CSU Raid Against the VCBC – Press Release July 20th, 2020

JULY 20th, 2020

VCBC HAS BEEN RAIDED A SECOND TIME BY THE CSU.

At 10:45am on Wednesday July 16th, the VCBC was raided by the Community Safety Unit and Victoria Police for the second time in 8 months. The CSU also conducted a raid against the Club in November 2019. This is the seventh raid against the VCBC in it’s 24 years of activism and service to patients. Nine law enforcement officers attended the scene and removed all cannabis flower and products. They left the cash on premises. There were five staff members on site, and one member in the lobby who was escorted off site. The raid concluded at roughly 1:00pm.

During the raids, our members protested outside against the injustice of the seizure of medicine. We quickly followed with a protest outside of Carole James office, the MLA for Victoria, BC.  Thursday, July 16th we had a rally at the BC Legislature. We have reopened the very next day for sales at 826 Johnson St at 4:20pm.

At this time mail orders will be unavailable until we are reestablished with our inventory and staffing levels. All medicine was stolen out of the store by the CSU, including the wrapped mail order packages. All mail orders that have been paid for will be replaced and where items are unavailable a credit will be placed on members’ accounts for future purchases. Our mail order staff will be in contact with all outstanding mail orders next week. Thank you for your patience.

We will publish more information about the next steps for the VCBC on our blog; www.cannabisdigest.ca as well as on our Facebook page. Please feel free to send us an email at hellovcbc@gmail.com or give us a call at 250-381-4220 if you have any questions or concerns.

Sunday July 19th – Closed
Monday July 20th – 10:00am to 7:00pm

There after we will be open our regular hours, Monday to Saturday 10 am to 7:00 pm.

Thank you for your support and patience in this trying time for us all. We will not give up the fight for accessible cannabis medicine for those who need it most.

With deep appreciation, we thank you.

The VCBC team.
