Annnual General Meeting: Thurs Oct 13
The VCBC will be holding its Annual General Meeting this year on Thursday October 13th, at the Fernwood Community Center from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
This venue is wheelchair accessible, it has a large parking lot across the street, and is easily accessible via bus, biking and walking.
This year we have one Board of Director position up for nomination. If you would like some more information on what it means to be on the Board, please speak with Ted directly, or e-mail hellovcbc@gmail.com.
We have one Board of Director position to be filled. You must be nominated by a member of the VCBC to be on the Board, but you do not have to be a member to be on the Board.
Nominations can be done in person in the VCBC Store front, or they can be submitted via email to hellovcbc@gmail.com
All nominations must be submitted by Sept 29th.
All nominees will then produce a 1 minute video that will be distributed to our members and made available publicly online so our membership can learn a bit about each candidate in advance of the vote.
During the AGM we will be gathering in person as well as streaming the event online. To access the event online, we will share a link to a Google Meet online meeting and members can submit votes for the Board of Directors via email to hellovcbc@gmail.com.
We will also go over the year’s finances and we will hear from Ted Smith, the Executive Director of the VCBC, about the vision for our club for the future.

Government of Canada Review of the Cannabis Act
“The Cannabis Act, which came into force on October 17, 2018, put in place a modern cannabis control framework to strictly regulate and restrict access to cannabis in Canada. The Act was designed to protect the health and safety of Canadians, to keep cannabis out of the hands of children and youth, and profits out of the hands of criminals and organized crime.
The Cannabis Act requires that the Minister of Health cause a review of the Act and its administration and operation three years after its coming into force. The Minister will table a report in both Houses of Parliament no later than 18 months after the start of the review.”
The Federal government is taking stock of the Cannabis Act, four years post legalization in Canada. From now until November 21, 2022 they are taking feedback in the form of a questionaire from the public.

Thursday October 13th – AGM @ Fernwood Community Center
Join us in person or online via Google Meets at 5:30pm to hear about how the club has been doing over the past year. Members will vote on the one board of director position that is available this year.
Monday October 31 – Halloween Party @ The VCBC
We are having an old school Halloween party! Join us at 7:30pm at the VCBC, and make sure to dress up! There will be prizes for the best dressed in our traditional Costume Contest. See you there!
Sunday November 27th – Pinball Night @ Quazaar’s
We are taking over Quazaar’s in downtown Victoria for a night of old school pinball and arcade games! From 7pm to 9pm please join us for a free night of pinball to celebrate our community.
Tuesday December 27th – Winter Potluck @ The VCBC
Please join us at 7pm for a potluck gathering in the slow days between Christmas and New Years.
