As Canada looks at legalizing Cannabis, we may have a lot to learn from places where cannabis legalization has been long part of the conversation. Just as Craft Cannabis producers in Canada are seeking a part in the new legalization plan, northern California’s family owned heritage cannabis farms are fighting for their place in their emerging legal cannabis market. After decades of secrecy and prohibition, with legalization on the horizon, this documentary aims to share their history and make a plan for the future.
FAMILY TREES: Stories of the American Cannabis Farmer, is a new documentary film being produced out of Mendocino, CA and Brooklyn, NY.
Film Synopsis:
FAMILY TREES tells the story of an American cannabis farming tradition, nurtured in the shadows of prohibition, growing into the light of legal market. While small towns across America lose their livelihoods to outsourced labor, environmental exhaustion, and corporate consolidation, the successes, hardships, and challenges of these small cannabis farms and hardworking farmers are real stories of the American dream.
Both the director and cinematographer are from the communities that make up the Emerald Triangle which gives the project insight and connections most folks don’t have access to.
They are currently crowdfunding and have achieved 50% of their goal with 9 days left!
We are sure you will love this beautifully shot documentary that offers first hand stories of the families, farmers and businesses that make up this changing industry. You can check out a quick link here:
